At Tivoli we are committed to improving the social and environmental well-being of the communities we serve. We have a proud record of increasing employment and training opportunities, providing tangible social and economic benefits, and tackling the cycle of deprivation and its cost to the public purse.
Our client Riverside Housing has been working with Carlisle United Football Club Community Sports Trust and Inspira to support
traineeships for 16-18 year olds who are not in Education, Employment & Training. This initiative programme is designed to boost the local economy, tackle unemployment, and provide young people with a pathway to employment, apprenticeships or Level 2 education. The students undertake a 12-week course studying maths, English and employability skills in a classroom learning environment, with 2 days a week work experience with a local business in an industry of interest to them.
As part of the programme, Tivoli has welcomed a trainee into their team who has a particular interest in landscaping and grounds maintenance, to provide the work placement element of the course. Working at our Riverside Housing sites, the recruit is learning numerous grounds maintenance and horticultural skills. The candidate is working with existing Tivoli grounds maintenance teams and is mentored and instructed in methodologies and best practice by the team’s Contract Supervisor. Full training is being provided in a wide range of horticultural skills.
By the end of the programme, the candidate will not only be provided with in-house training and on the job work experience via Tivoli, but they will also have key abilities and competencies in line with the current job market, and real industry transferrable skills for them to take forward to develop their careers. Where possible, Tivoli will also endeavour to provide full-time employment to trainees that demonstrate motivation and dedication, reinforcing our commitment to increase employment, development opportunities and skilled personnel for the landscaping industry.
